WHO OWNS AND RUNS THE BMX TRACK?
Ontario BMX Race tracks are non-profit or not-for-profit Organizations, they are not owned by anyone, but ran by a volunteer Executive or Board.
WHO MAKES THE RULES?
Ontario BMX racetracks are affiliated with the Ontario Cycling Association (OCA); governed in Canada by the Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) and worldwide by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
HOW MUCH DO THEY PAY FOR THE LAND THEY ARE ON?
The property is commonly leased to the Track by the Town.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE? DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?
BMX racing welcomes male and females of all ages and abilities and offers the opportunity for riders to compete and build confidence in a non-threatening, zero tolerance environment. Our youngest racer is 3 ½ years old and you are never too old to start racing BMX! In 2007 we had 8-10 riders over the age of 40.
CAN THE PARENTS BE INVOLVED?
BMX Racing is a family sport that encourages family participation where parents can get involved every step of the way. We even have moms and dads on cruisers (also 24” or 26” mountain bikes) and they compete the same day as their children, now the kids can cheer mom and dad on! Your can hear the kids yelling “pedal harder mom!”
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT BMX RACING?
Riders of all ages can learn new skills, build self-confidence, have respect for themselves and others make good friends and enjoy themselves.
The environment at a BMX race track is such that Pro and Expert Riders mix and talk, laugh and offer advice, and talk to novice and intermediate riders with no elitism. We offer a sport where each racer will be competing against racers of their own age and abilities. There is no fear of ridicule or intimidation.
